Hi all, having switched from a Bay I now have myself an 1982 Autohomes Kamper T25 (The pop top one) and I have a bit of a damp problem on the front corner and the plastic surround has cracks all over and currently held together with the good old gaffer.

I'm going to see a fibreglass moulding specialist this week to see what they can do for me and at what cost. The only other place I have found that can supply and fit is Autovan Services.

So has anyone fitted a fibreglass top and if so can you tell me where you got it from?

I'm also looking to replace the edging around the walls that fold up and down with rubber seals instead of the hard plastic that serves no purpose at the moment, if anyone can point me in any direction for that too it would be much appreciated.

Hi there, welcome to 80-90.

I've got rubber seals around the edges on mine and they work great, no draughts or rain at all

They are available from the JustKampers catalogue and their website but, there seems to be no pictures of the different profiles on the site . Maybe worth a phone call though.

Cheers BigTam I have spoken to them as well, (sorry forgot to mention that ) They couldn't help me really, they said they used to replace the plastic sides with Alli, I have looked into that too but a fiberglass roof would be alot better, completely seal it when it's down.

Just for future reference for you or anyone else, I found this site that also supplies seals http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk they give quite detailed discriptions with images and there's hundreds of different types.

Yeah I've spoken to them and got the brochure , exactly what I want but trying to find a cheaper sollution. It's £1080 including fitting for their roof.

for any seals and stuff like that i have used this firm woolies get there catologues is packed with loads of stuff and there really helpfull onb the phone too!!

We ripped our leaky roof off and had a high top from timer techs. Best addition we made to the camper, even if it does look like an ice cream van!

Cheers funbus3, that could be an option, what are the hightops like on the motorway do they get blow about alot?

I like the storage at the front too, that would be very handy. I have to fit five of us in the bus so always need more storage. do the pullout planks work in the same way for the bed?

Did you fit yours yourself or did you get them to do it for you?

Having a pop top with no problems I can't comment on the aerodynamics but I do now if I had a major (rip it off and start again) problem I would get the Timber Techs to fit a new one. It all looks horribly time consuming up there and as for sleeping they strike me as the kind of people to do a bespoke version

Fitted my own which was a doddle, removing the old roof was an absolute "bar-steward". We didnt keep any of the old interior gubbins but it should be possible to do so with slight modification. Give Timbertechs a ring, very helpful and have converted lots of Autohomes elevating roofs.

Van handling is pretty good with hightop although both hands and full attention needed on a windy motorway!

From reading alot of the posts on the forum, sounds perfect especially when you have to squeeze five people in the bus.

funbus3 did you have to pick the roof up yourself or did they arrange delivery? Also did you glue it down, or screw it, or both?

I did have a chat with timbertechnicians, really helpful guy, my problem is getting the van up there for a couple of days, well not a major problem just a bit of trek there and back.

Thought I'd update this post as I picked up my van from timbertechnicians today, man am I pleased with the job and so glad I went the high top route, soooooo much storage!!!
All I can say is if anyone is thinking of converting to the hightop then give timber technicians a call, very helpful and a fantastic job. Cheers.
