How do you do it? im rarely on a campsite with showers and hookup but want a hot shower, I'm going to create a shower curtain that falls down from the rear of the van with the boot up, but need to sort some hot running water. Help me please!! Or is it just not possible.

Apparently it has been done. I've seen a solar shower set up under the rear hatch but not a fancy one with curtains so swimming trunks to be worn.

the wway i have done it is to fill a solar shower from the kettle you dont need a great deal of hot water and works fine like that???

yeah we got the solar shower kit from JK, which included the shower, a fold up curtain and duck board.
At BVF Last year we hung the curtain from the tailgate and stood in a blow up beer cooler and hung the shower off the side of the boot lid, but weather was warm enough to heat the shower, when its not like james said boil kettle and put that in.

Could always get one of the gas fired water heaters, like most caravan and motorhomes have. I think Truma do one, also most of the other recognised heater people. You`ll need the unit, and maybe an extra tank for the water supply.

The Nautic BB1212 is a 12litre hot water tank heated either by plumbing it's heat exchanger into the heater plumbing on the engine, or by a 1200w mains element on a hook up. The down side is it costs 308.96 including vat from http://www.caktanks.co.uk/
There is also a 19l, 22l, 30l, 45l and a 60l model.
The 19 litre one is rectangular, all the others are cylindrical.
Bit pricey, and you still have to shower outside.

Thought about it myself, so far I have :-
Brought one of the cheap 12v shower kits, maplins sell from for £20.00, they also appear on ebay. I gutted a flip down hand wash unit from my brother in laws van, they are found in a lot of ex BT vans etc and plan to use this to heat the water until I find something better. Either that or I was going to buy one of the cheap 12v elements you can find.
Then lastly, I was looking at putting a small tank, caktanks have tons, either under the rear seat or in the wardrobe. Drop a pump in there as well, and run another feed to the sink.

I find it easier just to put 50p in the shower slot for hot water

Very much fancy a shower in my van (when I get one) for post moutain biking rides. Liked the two I've seen in a couple of recent t4 in VWC&B. Maybe the solar shower the sensible thing.

Did anyone see the shower in the T25 at van fest in the hanger? Made me smile. Along side a load of of tricked out vans and saw sign saying see shower at back f van. Thought great how'd they do it. Not sure exactly how the shower but was struck by the limp curtain round it and a paddling pool on the floor.

£15 12v shower from Maplins, £5 solar bag from JK, 2 suction cups attached to plastic shower curtain ring and stuck onto hi-top ... blend water to desired temp et voila .. PRICELESS

My old van had the tap on the sink on a long, extendable hose that you could feed out the window. You also could set the tap to a shower-like spray pattern.

Granted, it was no "shower" and the water certainly wasn't warm, but it was enough to wash down some mucky or sandy feet/ dogs /shoes / gear etc.

Some warm water in the sink and a washcloth had to do the rest then.

I have seen here in the Canaries some vans with a big diameter pipe installed over the roof, shape like a rectangle, painted on matt black and filled up with water... that is a very good way to have hot water, the thing is here the sun is shining 90% of time!
