Check inline fuel filter for dirt/water. With fuel filter removed check for fuel coming from tank. If blockage suspected push wire up pipe to tank as far as strainer. If still blocked rig up 12v tyre compressor with hose & pump air along pipe into tank. Could also disconnect fuel hose at pump & blow air through to check for possible blockage.
The above is what I had to do about 3-4 weeks ago.

The internal strainer in the bottom corner of the tank must have been blocked. The air from the 12v compressor cleared whatever was blocking the strainer away & fuel started to run slowly from the hose. No further problems with fuel supply but obviously there must be some crud in the tank.

Old trick is to stick a fairly powerfull magnet on the bottom of the tank, away from the outlets, this will collect rust and keep it way away from the outlet...

seems like - new fuel filter and 3 goes of giving it welly with the carb cleaner has done the trick - fine for local runs anyway - will find out how 'cured' on next long trip - thanks to all for their contributions and wise words -
