Am planning on buying my first van and am going to be using it as a daily mode of transport as well as holidaying. Am I watching one on ebay and after reading some posts it seems that turbo diesel is the best option but this one is a petrol but I still really like it. This is the listing

Please let me know good and bad points.

Also is it quite do-able to fit proper seatbelts on the rock and roll bed bench?

Thats an air-cooled 2 litre, if the engine's a cracker and the body not tooo bad, than worth a look, on the other hand the Buy It Now price is straying into 1.9 water-cooled land. Sounds like a low mileage engine, if its all set up well, it should be strong and reliable. Depends on just how good it is and what you can snap it up for ?

It will be quite thirsty on the old 'liquid gold' too possibly as low as 20mpg.

My dad had an t25 'xplorer' viking conversion - I borrowed it for years in my 20's (yeah, spoilt I know). Forgetting the unfinished paint job , the pop top is indeed a viking but I notice there's no pictures of inside the pop top itself.

That, coupled with the fact that no way is that the same interior of all the t25 vikings I've ever seen would lead me to think it's on a different conversion or a transplanted one. Nothing wrong with that in itself as long as it's done properly but thought you should be made aware.

This is what an original t25 'explorer' viking looks like (except they've added 'crosses' to the pop top windows for some reason). The upholstery 'downstairs' would originally have be the same as in the poptop.

They are an excellent conversion if you can get your mitts on one

if you want it go and check it out yourself, as there are not too many interior pictures.

do things like look at what the seat cover are made of, check the steps on the driver and passenger sides, look for oil leaks, check for slipping clutch. it may well have a long MOT but most MOT places are quite sympathetic to VW camper vans. Drive it till warm, switch off and then try and restart. if it was already warm when you arrived come back the next morning as it may have taken an age to start it before you arrive. make sure all the gauges are operational.. check this forum for a whole bunch of common problems and take the list with you.. check for oil leaks from the push rod tubes. etc etc

the only reason i mention this, is because in my mind it appears to be too cheap at £2750 I understand it is the end of season but I bought mine blind off ebay for £2850 and have so far spent maybe £300 on parts to repair it and this winter have to remove the engine to get a new exhaust on it.
