They didn't make a 1.6TDi
Only a 1.6TD.

You will get 27mpg plus depending on state of tune and how you drive.
Some reckon up to 40mpg, I would call them optimistic to say the least.

TDI does not stand for turbo diesel injection

DI standing for DIRECT INJECTION.

if we are being pedantic...

Direct injection and indirect injection (TDI and IDI) are 2 different styles of, er, injection.

Whereas contrast to the 1.9Tdi's that we have heard figures of.... Heavy high-top expedition syncro campers not expecting less than 30 mpg on tour, with off-road included and 35 mpg on good going.

Waiting to hear what Mudlark got to Corsica and back in his Tdi.

My 1.9TD struggles to get 27mpg, but has been on the up and up lately :)
I do cruise more 70-75 than 65-70 though, and those knobbly old tyres don't help.

I've been getting 35-37 out of mine recently, odo error is 8% but thats probubly the same as everyone elses so comparable. If you convert that to actual its still over 32. Van doesn't have a heavy intereour fitted, but 4WD can't help economy. As the engine had head trouble when under load I was driving it very gently though. It'll be interesting to see what happens when I start giving it some welly - something I'm desperate to do as its been painfully slow, I back off at 50 and don't let it boost much - that means some hills need to be done in second gear!

Waiting to hear what Mudlark got to Corsica and back in his Tdi.

This is the third time I have done this trip, first two were in my 2.1 high top camper which the fuel results for are in the Wiki; this year was in the 1.9Tdi Syncro 16 Westy pop-top.

We ran the air-con most of the time once we got into Southern France.

Long motorway drives Bristol -Paris - Toulon and Toulon - Bristol.
Mainly low speed winding coast/mountain roads on Corsica.

We left brimmed, and i brimmed the tank when we got back.

Figures are :

407.82 litres (89.7 Gal)
3869 kms (2400 Miles)
= 26.75MPG

Got some clips of the Corsican roads somewhere which i will put up on here sometime.

26.75 mpg - Very fair figure for that journey I'd say, forgotten what the 2.1 DJ figures were though.

:D :D :D HEY I am happy I bought a diesel :D :D :D
(Bog standard CS1600 with a 4 speed box)
First tank of gas and I got a very reasonable 36 to the gallon !!!!
That was a round trip to Skeggy and back and pootling around the Derbyshire Dales and Staffs Moorlands + a trip to see my bro in L/boro.
Not bad for one tank :D :D :D
