smells from heater

I have cured all oil leaks on to the heat exchangers but I am still getting a strong pong of burnt oil from my heater blower. I notice that after it has been idling eg. when waiting at traffic lights, and then taking off the smell becomes stronger.
like it has built up. Any ideas?

I reckon that your heat exchangers might be knackered internally, i.e. letting exhaust gas into the air system.

Thanks Camper looks like I will be disconnecting them. Too expensive to replace.

Give it a bit more time to clear-it probably took a long time to build up- perhaps your not heating them up enough to burn off the old oil...persevere a bit longer before you disconnect anything.
Mine smelled for 200 miles before It finally cleared up.
