I had this issue, i only replaced the rear shoes and the pedal disappeared into the floor! I bled the system thinking that i had moved the wheel cylinders out of position when removing the old shoes, i bled them three times, each wheel but still no pedal. I the end i had to wind the rear shoes right up to the drums, so as you rotate the wheel you can hear / feel the shoes just binding the drums (operate the brake pedal after each adjustment to centre the shoes. After this the pedal had improved slightly so with a new bottle of DOT4 i re bled the system this time we bled and bled and bled and after nearly using a full bottle of DOT4 throught the master cylinder, we suddenly extracted a load of air from the rear n/s wheel cylinder. Bingo - brake pedal back to the top.

All i can say is keep on bleading - it's amazing how much fluid i had to get through to remove the air.

What are you using to bleed the system?

An easibleed is your best bet, I had endless problems like this until I used one of those.

Changing rear wheel cylinders its a good idea to clamp-off the flexis before you disconnect the solid to the cylinder.

A sheet of plastic under the master cylinder lid is also a good idea to prevent excessive loss of fluid.
