Gear knob that is. I have bought a short shifter and can i get the gear knob off, not on your nelly. I have managed to turn it slightly by hand but no more.

Any suggestion please on how to unscrew it?

a hot flannel and rubber gloves...........

soak a flannel in boiling water, don said marigolds, wrap hot teaming flannel round said knob, hold there for a few sweaty mins, remove hot flannel, dry knob, grip with dry hands, and twist like your trying to steal it.......
