steering rack bushes

took caravelle for mot and it failed on steering rack mounting bushes the rack had movement side to side so replaced all 4 bushes with vw parts and it still the same there didnt seem much wrong with old ones is this right cheers

They are a bit on the soft side.. thats how they are.. if you want to tighten it all up, then get one of Brickwerks kits.. these are a lot stiffer and make the steering very much more direct... super...

I read this and checked mine as it has just passed the MOT

and sure enough they move...as TMT says it must be the way they are

alternativley you could try another Motter

I use Terry's autocare Showell rd wolverhampton

I go to 'Overdrive' which is on the Trysyl road (by Merry hill if you know Wolverhampton you'll know where i mean) they are quite 'sympathetic' to older vehicles and will always treat you well.

A tyre supplier told me that mine were loose but I asked our local MOT station to check and he said they are designed to be "soft" to reduce impact. I replaced them anyway (too much free time, what the hell) and it made no difference.
