Fiamma Bike Rack Versus Ladder Autohomes KOMET

Hi
Searched through previous threads and understood a simple "off centre" offset would be okay. Bought the rack from JK no problems and tried to fit at the weekend. I have pmed one poster of the previous threads to see if they had a result, with no reply as yet.
So, all as viewed from rear.
To locate the rack on the centre line of the van, the RH side top mount of the rack fouls the RH ladder mount and the horizontal rails of the bike rack even when empty would appear to obstruct the use of the ladder. I do want to retain the ladder as the top storage is used.
Practically and aesthetically the sensible thing, in my mind, is to relocate the ladder to the RH side of the tailgate. Mount the bike rack on centre line, no bike wheels hanging over the extent of the width and tip toe up the ladder when needed.
Has anyone successfully relocated the ladder? Bottom mount for ladder seems accesible through the internal trim so easy to drill new and grommet the abandoned holes, the top mount seems to be concealed within the top frame section of the tailgate. Does this involve something technical like welding (can't do), swearing and spanner rash (can do) or do I give up cycling as my last defence against the 34" waist ? (with sharp intake of breath assist
)
Thanks
Andy
