need to replace a part, but no idea how to describe it to a breaker

It is like a water junction box, located on the right of the engine bay (as you look at it) (behind the metal). It has 2x 1.5 ish cm bore water pipes off it, one 3cm ish bore water pipe off it, and one 3mm one that pokes into the engine bay

Any idea what this might be called?

sorry its a friends 1.9dg, vw recon in the last 2 years

All it's called in the VW parts catalogue is a "junction." If you're describing to someone i suppose you could describe it as you've done above but you could add that's its a "cooling water distributor for the radiator feed."

The VW part number is : 251121438B
