gearbox transplant

I can't believe this hasn't been done before so maybe someone has the answer to this.
I Have a 2L air-cooled camper, with an increasingly noisy gearbox.
There is no doubt about it I either have to change it or strip it and rebuild it/have it rebuilt.
I don't want to be without my van so I have been looking round for another gearbox, either to rebuild and swap, or to put in the van until my current one is rebuilt.
I've drawn a bit of a blank at getting a straight replacement, but I have found a very good low mileage 5 speed 3H gearbox. I have checked out the ratios, and though slightly lower overall they are not too bad, and as much of my camping is done in mountainous areas this would not be too bad a thing.
DK gearbox at 4200rpm in top 85mph 3H gearbox at 4200 in top 81mph.

Can this be fitted to my van? I assume there would have to be a bell housing substitution, maybe also need the 5 speed linkage.

I'd be grateful or any comments, advice or assistance. I'd be even more grateful if one of you guys has an air-cooled gearbox they want to get rid of.

I certainly would not change from a 4 to 5 speed. Speak to Aidan and see what he thinks about fixing yours.

5 into an early 4 can be done, but is hassle as box is longer..

As said.. Speak to Aidan Talbot (see bottom of my post for link) IIRC he may even have a "K" on the shelf
