Battery - live or dead?

With not ever having a vehicle that's left idle for more than a fortnight is it a common occurrence for the vans main battery to discharge when the vehicle is left standing? The van hasn't moved for over 2 months and the battery will not even attempt to get the van started.

Or is the battery shagged? (it came with the van so it's age is underterminable like Joan Rivers)

the only way to tell is charge it for 24hrs.and then leave it stood for another 24hrs.then check the voltage. if its dropped from 12v then its time to replace it...nice to meet you today btw...

may not be shagged! there might be something connected to the battery that is draining it! even something as daft as the standby light on the stereo can flatten the battery!

Charge battery, refit in bus, connect positive terminal to battery, connect a test light between negative terminal and negative cable, if it lights up then you have some thing draining the battery, remove & refit fuses one by one till light goes out, this gives you a clue as to which circuit has the drain(normally a light of some sort)

I stop this happening by having a battery kill switch, so no drain when parked up, bought it from www.frost.co.uk also works as an extra anti-theft device. As said , even the memory on the stereo can kill a battery in time.
