I chose to commission a local, supposedly reputable Engineering business, who are capable of "prototype to production", to produce the carriers. I have learned a very valuable lesson - always have a contract drawn up, no matter how small the project is. I have 10 nearly finished wheel carriers sat in their workshops, that have had tiny bits done before the guy that bends bits goes sick or the workshop manager goes on a track day at Nuremberg ring, or the cad bloke goes on Holiday. They really do have every excuse in the book. I have tried negotiating final completion dates on numerous occasions, Phoned them, visited them, and emphasised the fact that various shows have been and gone and that I was the only person in the equation to be made to look like a prick. I will never have anything to do with this company again - and Just in case, the company is Callaghan Engineering, Denny end ind estate, Waterbeach, Cambridge. I can only apologise to those people have given me a deposit in good faith and under the circumstances If you cant wait any longer. (don't blame you) just send me a PM and I will give you a refund. I will be taking action today to make sure that the carriers are finished in the very near future, even if this means taking them elsewhere to be finished. I also feel that in compensation for the huge delay, I shall be selling the carriers to those that have been patiently waiting, at cost price.

Sounds like you've been having a total nightmare.

I have been to Callaghans today and have spoken to the owner. He has assured me that he will pull out all the stops to complete the carriers by friday. I am very impressed by the work they have done, but not with the speed they have carried it out. I should hopefully have them with me this weekend at vanfest.

heard a few people talk about how long they take!! (its on same road as the barracks i live on!) Tho as you put there work is very good seen stuff they have made for a mates off road 4x4 thing!!!

As I suspected, even with the pressure on they have failed to produce the carriers for vanfest. The guy that went to germany had left the parts laying all over the workshop and Is in for a hard time when he returns on monday. Will keep you all posted.

Glad it's not just me that gets let down by fuppin' engineers.

I seem to have found a sensible bunch at the moment, and things seem to be going well, but we'll see!
