led lights question

I'm rather bored with the boring white light generated from my 12v strip lights in the van and I'm looking for a snazzy but cheap fluorescent alternative.

Anyone know of anywhere that do 12v rope lights or 12v led strips preferably in green?

Yup these do work although they're not THAT bright. I used them for under-dash lighting. They'd be ok for reading though - perhaps not in green though - lol

Go look in B&Q at the LED patio lighting kits. These will run on a car battery quite happily and using minimal current. Even my sidelights and tail lights are LEDs now - anything to save power.

On the whole, its worth looking in maplins etc at their LEDs - providing a suitable resistor is used, any LED can run on 12 volts. Lot cheaper that way.

It's for an ambient lighting effect. More of a light to quaff Jack Daniels by than read David Copperfield

How much draw would the 12v inverter pull from the battery? Or would it be better removing it from the wiring?

Example of power use shown at link below

I haven't a clue about anything electrical and would like to know if these cold cathode tubes are economical to run off a car battery
