Not sure where the sender is on the motor, but the wire to it should be yellow/red. If you find it, unplug it and put it to the engine block your gauge should do something.

Locate the thermostat housing and there will be 1 or possibly 2 sender units on there, if you have 2 it is the awkward 1 at the back, take off plug and short across the terminals, if gauge is ok it will go all the way over and you will have to replace sender, if not you have dodgy wiring and not the easiest to fix, done mine took a couple of hours to sort wiring,

the fan works ok (switches on when warm)

there is no air in the cooling system

I've a non-working temp gauge at the minute and have got the two sensors, I've a new one on order to replace the awkward one.

However I'm a curious sod....

What is the other one, for as I can't find it on any wiring diagram?

I've now found it on a fuel injected engine but mine is carb fueled. :?:
