Quite a bit of welding is needed on my van, trying to work out how much it might cost, and how it would be done.

Cills - both inner and outer cills corroded on MOT so how much would i be looking at to replace these, and would they need cutting out and replacing completely?

Front of acrh, front steps - both gone. anyone else had this welded up and if so how much did it cost you?

Forgot to mention, did find a guide somewhere with pics - cutting out cill repairing floor ect... anyone know where it is?

can only give advice about cutting out all old tin worm. Better to cut it out and weld to good clean rust free metal. This gives abetter base for a good weld and will last alot longer before needing to be done again. As for price on doing. impossible to say with out pics and even then may get alot worse when you start to clean up and the metal disappears. do whole panels need replacing or do you want it patched up if this possible. This will affect price. whole panels are much more difficult to fit and a good welder should be able to fabricate decent plates for any holes that need welding. Have done alot of welding on brothers van but cost only panel prices as do it myself but garage cost would be arm and leg job. good luck

Good luck, when mine was done I used JK panels but I think I saw posted someone else was better (any ideas?).
I think the one thing you need to be careful of is that if you chop out too much of the rusty bits before you put in replacement panels the body might lose its shape and also strip the interior and have someone on fire watch

Alan Schofield for panels.

I have been quoted £150 for 8 hours work on my nearside front wheel arch replacement which also includes some work on the panel behind the arch. The cost includes removing the old arch, fabricating a new rear arch panel and welding in a new arch.

Anyone else out there with some welding cost views

Yes - I used JK panel for my offside front wheel arch and was not too impressed .. my VW welding mate tells me that it is worth paying extra for a good panel as the welding time can reduce by up to 50%! here here!! ive had to use arches on bays that were at least 1/2" to small, buy the best you can afford, that way the welder isnt cheesed off b4 the job has even started

for 8 hrs welding i would have charged you £200, 8 hrs is about right for a step and arch in my opinion, remember to check the do closes and is lined up properly, seals should actually seal the door
