Electrolux three-way fridge switch

I need to fit a new ignitor switch to my fridge but need to know which way up the switch goes. I made a note of where the wires went but couldn't tell which way up it went as the cover had snapped off.
So, is it ON in the up position or in the down position? Please!
Switch is marked with I and O

what age is the fridge?
is it the one that has two switches joined togetther with one cover?
if so down is on, as in
in at the bottom is on

Sorry, should have been specific, but thanks Mocki.
The fridge is an Electrolux RM212 and installed in a 1990 camper.
It has one single pole illuminated switch (on-off) on the left side.

im not sure now then... mine is a different one altogether..... a rm412s, and the orange electric ignition switch is in at the top for on, as are the other two switches, which i find odd, as i am used to in at the bottom for on.....

Mocki, I agree with you re the convention for switches being ON is usually down.
