new glowplug relay makes glow plugs stay lit?

i have a diesel t 25 and i had previously taken off the temperature sensor wire so that my glow plugs came on every time i started the engine wether it was cold or not, but then went off when the engine started, this helped a starting issue i had with the van, as sometimes it wouldnt start after a short journey because the glowplugs would not light.

But today i replaced the glow plug relay with a new one from justkampers.
now this relay makes the glow plugs stay on even after the engine has started ?

So i put the wire back on the sensor but now im back to the orginal cold starting issue.
what i want to know is, if both relays are the same, which they appear to be, why does the old relay knock off the glow plugs when the engine starts, but the new one makes the glow plugs stay on when it starts?
does anyone know another way of making the glowplugs go off wen the engine starts?
if not ill have to put the old relay back on, which is a waste of 17 quid !

thanks

John

on a lot of vehicles the relay stays on for a short while to aid quicker warm up/smoother running upon start up, why did you change the relay to start with ???

a mate of mine wired a switch (that sent the heaters live) to the dash of his merc which he switched on before starting and off when it was running, worked great!!

ok i went back out and tried it again.
the glow plug light does go out but it takes longer to go out that than the old relay, but it eventually does so hopefully it will be ok.

cheers for advice guys.
