A few weeks ago I had my brakes serviced. I think I had new pads on the front and the back just needed cleaning. It sailed through the MOT and that weekend I went down to Devon and back, and all seemed fine. The bus has since been on the drive without moving for 3 weeks, which is not unusual. I left the handbrake off and the bus in gear for the whole of that time.

I went for a spin last night and the brakes seemed to be binding badly, to the extent where I could sit in traffic on a hill with the handbrake off and it wouldn't even roll. I got the impression that it was the front wheels that were stiff. Couldn't be the new pads because I've done a few hundred miles on them now.

Anybody any ideas why this might be, and any quick actions that I should take to sort the situation?

It could be that the rear shoes are adjusted up a little tight, back them off a fraction.. (I have seen this a couple of times) or you have a internal failed hose in the system somewhere that blocked the fluid from returning.. this has hapened to a few people..
Only thingto do is to push the pistons back (if you can) etc..

Could be that there is a good bit of crud on the caliper pistons and fitting new pads has pushed that all into the seals and crudded it all up too...

Hmmm, all good ideas but I'm perplexed why it suddenly came on when the bus was static after having been fine the last time out. I suspect corrosion might come into play. I'm having it looked at tomorrow and hopefully it's nothing a good squirt of WD40 won't sort out otherwise no beer at the weekend!

As said an internal failed hose in the system could be.Or brake shoe return spring problem weak or broken on back plates.
