hi all

we overheated recently in a safari park of all places! We knew the engine was getting hot so had the heating on full whilst going slowly around the lions, we made it as far as the giraffes when there was a loud pop and water all over the tarmac.

one of the pipes/ hoses had split - after lots of beeping to get people to notice we were stuck we were taken to the safari park workshop and managed to do a temporary fix but don't want to travel far until it is fixed properly.

I have looked in just kampers catalogue but cant' seem to find a match for the bit that split.

The part is a shaped almost an S bend bit.....but without the full top of the s shape (not sure that makes sense)

if i need to look in a scrapyard anyone know any suitable ones in the east midlands or north west?

try to describe where on the engine the pipe is.i will look on etka and see if i can find it.you may be able to get the part from vw..

i have taken a picture of the engine showing where the temporary fix is. The "temproary fix" we did at the safari park is a curved metal pipe inside the rubber tube.

It still seems to leak a bit under pressure so i am not sure about driving long disances until it is fixed with the correct hose.

Have managed to get the part number on vagcat, couldn't work out how to order anything from them though - have also found part for sale in US at busdepot.com.

Has anybody dealt with busdepot, good, bad or indifferent. How long can I expect delivery to take?

Further to my previous post (about 20 mins ago).

Looking futher on busdepot it actually calls the part a 'Heater Hose to Pump/Exp Tank' in its catalog, which makes things confusing, because the initial google listing says its a hose for radiator/oil cooler.

anyway I think it is actually pump/exp tank because it comes out of the expansion tank.

Confused? No more than I am probably!

i've dealt with BusDepot & they were very helpful.
