Driveshaft/C.V. Bolts, Loctite Or Not??

anyone have problems with these blighters coming loose occasionally, or are they usually ok once they're nipped up again after driving for a while?
not sure if thread-lock would solve the loosening problem, but make them a pig to get out in the future, any ideas?

i had problems with my old oil burner.they came out a couple of times.i put a touch of thread lock on them in the end.they are not that hard to undo should you ever need to do it...

yes locktite for belt and braces,do up to 45NM or 33ft/lbs also fit new lock washers (N 015 371 1, 6p each from VW ) get the right tool to remove, you can get like a metre long jobby with the tri square end on it which is nice but you cant beat a impact splined bit or 6mm hex on a breaker bar for getting them off. Clean them up good and make sure you have the right spline/6mm hex socket they can be different even on one side! Fit new ones all around, not the shiny ones from gsf but the black hard ones with splined holes (in the boot kits) DO NOT reuse bolts unless they are pristine, especially on the outers they can be a real headache to get off. Maybe fill the socket with copper grease to reduce cak ingress in future?

should there be lockwashers/springwashers as well as the three curved shape 2-hole washers on each CV? or are they actually a locking washer, don't they work if re-used then?

thanks for the pic, so there should be a lockwasher under each bolt head as well as the curved 2 hole load spreading plates, the washers weren't fitted on mine. ta again for the info

If your buying spring washers ask your fastner shop for M8 spring washers in retangular section, type BP (tipped end) to BS4464 (Din 127A)
These are the heaviest available for M8 bolts and have spiked ends to dig in and resist undoing - only use once !
Dimensions for M8 are ID = 8.2mm OD = 14.9 and 2mm Thick.
