Me and my Syncro in Iceland

Hello from Reykjavik. I've found one of the few free things here, which is wireless internet at the library, so I'm glad I brought my computer. Actually jet-washes are often free at garages, which is useful when 100km later your van's ready for another wash.
I've driven around the north coast from Seydisfjordur (no Icelandic characters on my keyboard I'm afraid), via Thorshofn, Husavik, Akureyri and then over to the Westfjords, where my van finally disgraced itself and used about 15 litres of oil to get to Reykjavik to find a mechanic (see my post in the technical section). It's just as well I haven't tried any particularly demanding roads, although I'm glad I didn't bring the Devon as there are several places I've been that I don't think it would have managed. It's too pretty (and underpowered, and 2WD) for this sort of driving.
I have some pictures (a few including the Syncro) that you can see by browsing through my blog posts at http://edmundator.blogspot.com if you're interested.
I'm based in Reykjavik now until the end of September and I won't be going anywhere else until the van's fixed.
Bless bless, as they say round here,
Ed
