Hope someone can help....1600 td
Van layed up for couple of months and now wont start! Was fine before.
Fuel solenoid fine but looks like air in fuel line and i can't recal how to bleed it through.
Can someone please point out the easiest way to bleed through the fuel as i can't remember and have not got the diesel manual only the petrol version

The way I did it was to pull off the fuel return pipe and replace with a clear piece so that you can suck on it and see the fuel. (tastes better with biodiesel!- try not to get it in your mouth, youre just sucking the air out.)
switch ignition on and suck gently on the pipe. When you've got a bit of a vacuum put your tongue over the end to allow the vacuum to stay and watch the air bubbles come up.
If that doesn't work get someone to turn the engine over whilst loosening each injector pipe in turn to push air out.

Hope it works - it worked for me...Good Luck!! :D

by air in the line im quessing you mean back 2 the fuel filter (top right of engine bay), i always have this on mine, crack a nut on top of an injector pipe and turn the engine over to see if there is diesel getting there with a 17mm spanner, if there is air there crack each injector in turn as you get some one to turn the engine over, clear any air this way(if there is any) and see what she does, if its trying to fire but aint happening check your glow plugs are heating, also check the metal fuse in the fuse box (back left corner) looking at you when you lift off the cover ,to see if this has blown

It bleeds itself when you turn it over.

Thats the engine back on line ,all i need to do now is restore the body, refit the interior ,fit a new windscreen ,paint it ,do the brakes Bla Bla Bla ,you get the picture :?

Would just like to say that the WIKI diesel engine PDF is superb and covers every little detail of the fuelling system ...an excellent resource!! :D :D
