2l cu exhaust question?

hi all,just in the process of fitting a 2l cu in place of a 16 ct,just wondering if anybody had done away with the heat exchangers,pods etc,fitted exhaust pipes straight from heads to silencer,then fitted eber or propex to take care of heating issues,also would tinware have to be moded?,any pitfalls or benefits anyone can think of?,thanks dave
