Hi All,

Just got t25 back from a service, goes lovely, but..

I knew I had a coolant leak somewhere, but the garage say it's the 'header tank'. Does he mean the 'water filler tank' ? or the top of the radiator? I can't see any cracks in the water filler tank, and the expansion tank stays full fine. I reckon he must mean the water filler tank.

There's a picture of a petrol engine here:

Header tank is labelled in the bottom left hand corner, so presumably it's this that the garage was referring to? We seem to be frequently topping up our coolant without any leak that I've ever noticed so I'd be interested to hear how you get on with locating and fixing the problem.

Ah now, that tank is fine, but that's the expansion tank right? The other tank I mean is the filler tank, behind the number plate

Just had a look at my Haynes manual and in there that tank is called the expansion tank. Yes the one behind the number plate is the top-up tank. I have no experience of this, but from posts that I've read on here there can sometimes be problems with the cap on the expansion tank (because it is under pressure), don't know if this would be relevant in your case though.

I'm sure that somebody more knowledgeable will be along shortly, or possibly even before I've finished tryping this! :D
