sorry been a watcher for a long time. But. I bought some SLK alloys and they look nice,BUT i bought some longer studs for rear whesls and they don't fit.so bought another set (looked the same as first set) and they don't fit.The original bolts on rear hub appear "corase" but the supplied boltds appear "fine". What I mean, is the bit near the head the of spiline not the bit that the wheel bolt attaches to.his is the bit which fits to the hub.SO even with a very BIG hammer the new bolts will not fit the hub,Which is a shame as the front wheels look very nice.much help required.thanks

Rear studs need to be pressed in with a strong press, not a hammer or you can distort the hub flange. The studs are quite a tight fit.

just fitted 18 inch alloys and noticed the same thing. the splines on the old studs from the rear hubs look very fine in comparison to the new ones. I drifted them in using a copper drift and a large lump of copper while supporting the hub face on an large engineers vice. The hub (being a casting) is softer than the new studs so they should cut their own seats.

i had the same problem, are these studs actually the correct ones ?
surely having to "cut there own seats" means they are not the right size ?
where yours bought from ebay ?

Looking at the studs, i'd say the pitch of the splines on the new ones is twice that of the originals. Iv'e not had any problems at all (other than persuading them in in the first place!) and used a 3' breaker bar on the wheel nuts using the old wheel nuts and packing pieces to ensure that the studs were 'square' to the hub face before finally fitting the wheels. They are not going to come out easily and certainly will not turn in their seating.

I will speak to my local garage unless anyone knows of somewhere in the north wales area

If it is of any concellation, i got some from e-bay [fireturk?] and they work fine, but were absolute sods to get in. Had me and a freind hanging of a 10 ton press to get them in. Think i will sell the van with the alloys on as the studs are never coming off

i have found the easyest option is to go to vw and buy them for a early lt 35 thats what i have done the splines stick through abouut 15 mm perfect for holding hubcentric or non hubcentric spacers inplace if your looking for wheels i have a lovelly set of rondells for sale cheers rab
