Whats the best carb replacement?

Had some problems with the cold starting / running on my 1983 1.9 wbx DG motor. I ordered a pull down unit and service kit from Gower and Lee but when carb was removed it seems that a previous owner has made a 'special / "bar-steward" child' from a few different units. I seem to have the top half from an opal and the bottom half from a VW, studs and accelerater cable mount have all been welded on as they must have been Opel fitments originally so now i'm looking at a new / replacement carb. I have a long trip planned and was wondering if your collective expertise could suggest the best replacement? Do I go Weber or Pierburg? Whats the best if money was no object? (figuratively speaking obviously!) 8)

yeah, had a feeling best to stick to oem parts. Thanks. Where's the best place to go for a Pierburg? Thinking of ordering one tomorrow with a bit of luck....

thanks anyway George. Shame not the right one but there you go.

It seems that Weber carbs are also out of stock in the usual places. Anyone know where else I can source either the Pierburg or the Weber???

(Got a price of almost £700 from Gower and Lee for a Pierburg and Webers are on back order until Spetember) OK, PANIC!!!!
