HT leads are swapped to match the 180 degrees that the dizzy is. Thats what the mechanic told me He said that the dizzy had been rebuilt incorrectly but I think he did the same thing as you.

take drive out and start again,itll only cause problems in the future,cj.

None with a waterboxer but it would kill an Aircooled.

As Andy says on a water boxer the Dizzy is uniform, on Aircooled I think no3 is advanced or something, So I guess it will only cause problems if a mechanic forgets which one he pulled off and puts them back by the book. maybe mark up the dizzy cap with cylinder numbers.
