Anyone got or seen one of these sun canopys? They look OK for £50, thinking of buying one.
Any comments welcome :D

Hi Mininuts,

we've got one of the Easi Canopys and used it for the first time last weekend. Unfortunately there was not a lot of sun, but it kept the rain out of the side door of the van, even in some torrential downpours!! Our awning rail is quite high up on the van (we moved it especially for this canopy), so that the top slopes downwards to allow rain to run off.

It was really simple to put up, and is very light and compact. Only problem we had with it was when it got very windy and we had to take it down.

We got ours from UK campsite too and had no problems.

Hope this helps,

Nicola

We bought a 2nd hand Fiamma Caravanstore canopy for £80, might be a bit more sturdy?

Taking my life in my hands here  but IMO the above should probably say:

1. allows the rain to gather in a puddle on the top but it's easier to push it off because of the slope!

2. when it got a bit windy we had to take it down (but the ground was pretty wet and soft, so the pegs on the guy ropes just kept pulling out of the ground and then the poles fell over!)

We've only used the canopy once so far but I think it's going to do what we want it to (once we've got a couple of those big cork screws to use as anchors on soft ground and I've put a stopper on each end of the awning rail to stop the canopy sliding out of it when it's windy).

Cheers guys, was thinking about the rain problem myself. I thought about shortening the poles a bit if possible but, that's a good idea with the awning rail :?

Will think a bit more about it :idea

I reckon their comment that it's a "brand new concept for 2007" is a bit rich - there's loads of other examples I seen over the years. In fact I copied/adapted a version I saw on an American website over years ago:

I fancy one of those Fiamma F45i's. But I do have expensive tastes (typical woman ha ha  ). There's one on ebay at the moment but the bidding has gone a bit crazy. F45 link to ebay
You can get it in ocean blue to tone in with your lime green steering wheel cover.

The poles would be easily shortened because each pole is made up of 4 separate pieces of tube (none of those springs or cords joining them all together) so you could just leave one piece off, or shorten one piece with a hacksaw. Might make the height of the canopy a bit low at the front, depending on how tall you are?!
