Went out for a ride in camper yesterday.
Wife driving , smelt a funny odour, she thought it was gas , i couldn't smell anything...turned wipers on slow position and they went fast !
Anyway returned home with smell getting worse then co detector went off...opened all windows and got home...Left engine running, wife went in house while i investigated, now smell was bad under driver seat...felt battery woow very hot, got me meter and measured 22 voltson tickover!!!. Turned engine off, instantly thought voltage regulator!!...turned ignition back on no ignition light. pulled blue wire from alternator with ignition on and earthed it, ignition light came on...ummm i thought maybe its the alternator... i would value any opinions...thanks in advance

Sorted!!
I have replaced the voltage regulator now 13.9-14 volts charging.... :D ....instead of 22 volts..!

Also had to replace...
Battery.... boiled!!..what a stink!
Split charge relay /combination unit...fried... saved the liesure battery.
Headlight bulbs..main beam blown
Flasher unit ...fried
Brake light switch...dont know why it didnt work
Ignition module....fried
LPG / Petrol control module /gauge....fried...getting replaced Friday at Gasure.

Just goes to show what a faulty voltage regulator can do..
