Reducing Emissions

My 1981 a/c 1600 T25 has just failed its mot on high emissions, can anyone tell me how to reduce these please. :?

have it tuned up properly to start with...............then see what the emmissions are like

Try adding some Redex to your petrol and giving it a good run before you retest it, it has worked wonders for me in the past. Combined with new filters it brought my emissions right down. Make sure you get the right one as they do seperate ones for carbs, injection etc, etc.

Do you mean fuel filters or air filter as it has had both recently ?

Sorry, I meant the air filter. If it's had one just pop in some Redex, it worked a treat for me :D

hold on! arent vehicles of a certain age exempt the emission test???? how is a 1956 austin a30 supposed to pass an emissions test??
