bleeder valve
F 24-D-089 699>>

part number 025 121 082

no longer available from VW, a breaker may have one (its looks like an early system?) Or you could make one up from steel plumbing parts maybe? dont use copper in your system as it will encourage corrosion on your head bolts.

The bleeding valve is fine.
The leak is actually behind the bleeding valve. there is a crack.
Not sure where I am going to find replacement for that!!

Dear Mr Hacksaw

Could you expand a bit on your comment about not using copper cooling system fittings as this will encourage corrosion on the head bolts?

The reason I ask is I was toying with the idea of using copper pipe to replace my VERY dodgy looking under-van steel cooling system pipes, as the sizes available are close-ish. If this is a 'dis-similar' metals issue my understanding was there had to be physical contact. And aren't radiators made of copper? Mind you, I was never that good at chemistry at school and it was a jolly long time ago.....

I have not been able to find the part!! :(

I have tried scrapyards, Vw part companies even VW dealership!

NOTHING!!!

Not sure what to do next! I can drive the van ok but I need to keep an eye on the water level all the time!!

The part number is 025121082A

If you hear anybody breaking a van or if you know where else I could search for it, let me know please

Cheers

maybe repair the existing? depends how the crack formed though. to limit cooling loss whilst its off use the tent peg and cable tie trick, ie two cable ties and two tent pegs to make a clamp.

hi
if you cant get a new or used part repair your one by plastic welding it :D
i done this about a year ago on the plastic thermastat housing at the back of my engine and has been fine! use a soldering iron and some black plastic down pipe as a filler rod. keep all things clean and make sure you push the 2 plastics together and mix them over the repair well.
hope this helps carl :)

It might well be the only way I'm gonna get this sorted.
It has been impossible to find the part!

Anyone here has contacts in Germany?? :?:

Just wondering if it will be easier to find it there!
