French engineering is suspect enough on proper roads so there is no way i would trust it off road.

Dangel actually have quite a good name and have done several 4x4 conversions on light trucks (Iveco , Ducato etc)
I'd have that yoke in a flash (given money, space, understanding wife)

The 505 diesel in its standard guise is one of the most reliable, long term vehicles ever.
They are still used daily in desert countries along with the even older 504. The diesel engines last forever if looked after and the suspension has been lauded as one of the toughest designs ever.
In 4x4 guise I bet they are fantastic.

I have a Renault Kangoo Trekka 4x4, it's small french and fantastic. I like the french attitude to motoring, they seem to go for the smallest vehicle that will suit their needs, where we seem to think that bigger is better. one reason may be the french african colonies where vehicles like the peugeot 505 and renault 4 seem to operate much better than 3 tonnes of land rover "pooh". to anyone that has tried driving a corrugated piste in north africa a renault 4 would be much more appealing than a land rover which would have to drive half as fast to stop it from breaking it's self cuse its so heavy. once the brit overlanders have added 2 tonnes of jerry cans and other equipmnt the vehicle is so heavy it gets stuck in all the soft sand. small vehicles like the renault 4 or citreon 2cv just float over the top, and when they get stuck a coupe of people can push pull or lift it out. a syncro is somewhere inbetween I think.

holden in australia did a very similar thing to some saloons and station wagons, they sold em under the badge of COMMANDER for the saloon and overlander for the wagon. have a look!

I went onto the Dangle 4x4 site and they describe their vehicles as " Unlike traditional 4x4, Dangels are discreet and economical. " That 505 is about as discreet as a flying lump hammer!!!!!!!!!

See quite a few about here.. the EDF/GDF (lecy and gas board) had quite a few and I think one is still in sevice at our local place..
Typical French patriotisim of the 80's.. although things have changed as they use G wagens, Landcruisers etc now..
actually quite good offroad...
But it will only appeal to a certain person!!!!
Maybe I should buy it and see if I can sell it on here in France.. would be exceptional...
