I have german t25 ac 1981 import with german gas bottle - I need a refill for europe trip - went to refill the bottle today at gas centre - they said mmmmm can't refill that bottle its not a calor...that'll cost you another 30 quid for a calor cylinder plus 11 for the gas.

Does anyone know where i can refill gas cylinder in europe...i mean do garages refill these or are there specialised shops that will take me an age to find (France, Germany, Czech)?

If not i'll have to refill in the gas shop near me before going and pay the extra for a new cylinder :(

Over here in Ireland my local Calor gas retailer takes the bottle in, gets it refilled at the depot and a week later you get it back.
The valves at the top are the exact same as on the big Calor cylinders, so don't let them fob you off or try a different depot.

Alternatively drive into any camping supplier or large DIY chain in Germany and just swap your empty cylinder for a full one (while you're at it, make sure you get a nice, new-ish one :D ) and pay your ten to twelve euro for the gas.

is it a small blue 907 bottle? you can get them exchanged at larger camping shops.

according to the gaz shop the regulator fits fine - they just said that they are not allowed to fill the kind of bottle that I have - its a sort of brownish coloured 5kg one

yeah ..you get that line a lot ...we're not allowed, health and safety blablabla ...

With my retailer they had a different driver recently, collecting the bottles ...the fecker left mine behind, citing above line ...rang the depot, got the ok and got it sorted.

I would suggest ringing the actual refilling plant and getting their verdict on it.

Unless of course you can fit a calor cylinder without problems ... would just make your life so much easier. Your german gas bottle is supposed to be grey btw ...if it is now brown, exchanging it might be a good idea :D

Visit these gaslow.co.uk and buy an adaptor so you keep your German Regulator but it screws into an english Propane/Butane bottle.

Then sling your German bottle

...but before you do that, take careful measurements. Your gas cylinder storage compartment may have been styled around the German type ...not all others may fit.

skins, it sounds like you might have a westy? if so the 7.5 blue cannisters fit just right, so does the 13kg and it works out cheaper, and seem to last forever  is it a westy??

i still have one german 5kg bottle here, same fitting as the standard swiss connection. i can't trade it in for a full one from ELF/SHELL or whoever but my local ironmonger will fill it for me no problem, cost is about €20.

i doubt if you'll get it filled anywhere in the uk or france and i don't know if you'll even be able to change it for a full one in germany if it's really old, they have some serious gas regulations there.
