The vacuum unit on my distributor is weak, apparently. Thiking about buying one of JK's cheapo non-brand 009s to replace it. Anyone got anything good to say about this?

Oh and dont be tempted to fit an 009 as they are useless for a type 4 engine.. not enough advance and not fast enough advance ramp..

I have just had my vacuum unit replaced on my 1.9 DG, cost £18.13 from vag - the code for mine was V025 905 271 C, hope this helps

Wow, the 009 is not a popular component. I had one fitted to my T2 and it was very good. Never missed a beat.
Thanks for the adivce. I think I'll go for the replacement unit from VAG, thanks for that code louislucas.

the type 1 engine is different to a type 4 engine.. the type 4 does not like the 009.. wrong advance curve.. a prpoerly set up 009 on a type 1 works well.. but is always a compromise..
If you have the dual vac unit and cannot get it then it can be replaced (with a little mod) for a single vac unit, but you have to correct the timing to suit and blank the retard vac line..
Oh, just seen.. you have a 1.9 DG... fit a new vac advance unit... forget the 009 on this engine... backward step...

Every one seems to be omitting the fact that a 009 is a point distributor, and the t3 is electronic (all except some wierd African models)
So, in other words, go from 50 000 volts to about 25 000 volts.
Just buy a vac advance unit.
