Brake calipers 1982 2000cc air cooled- Girling or ATE?!?

Hi there,
Please can you help me dicepher which claipers I need.
I can't tell the difference looking at pictures on the web, is there an easy way to tell?
Need replacing for MOT asap as its outta tax!
All help appriciated

ok looked in my book and from what i can see girling have a circle stamped on the outside and where the cylinder in housed its rond as the other claiper is sqaure endedif u know what i mean looking from outside.also girling have a wide 3 prong spring plate to hold pad in.where as other has single finger typealso retaining springs on girling have clips too hold them in and the other sort dont.hope that helps ya out mate

Mine are Girling... so hopefully yours will be too.
Easy way to tell is that the bleed nipple needs a 7mm spanner on a Girling caliper, but is 8mm on ATE. You will only find this unhelpful if your bleed nipples are seriously corroded.

easiest way is to remove your dash cowl and look at the sticker on you servo it will say lucas or ate!!!!
