I'm looking for a T4 for various reasons, don't really want to part with my bus but as i'm heading to the alps for a long time i think more economy, driving comfort and especially the safety of abs and possibly 4wd would be sensible.
I've seen a nice westy multivan syncro but as it's a petrol with 160k miles i'm wondering if thats a bit much for a petrol?

Well wullie that's a good question! Going mid December most likely but still not sure where. I'm a snowboarder and do a bit of ski mountaineering gubbins as well. I've spent loads of years in Chamonix but it's a bit to cool now for an old timer like me! So far we're considering Mayrhofen and St Anton in Austria, Morzine, Les Carroz and Serre Chevalier area in France and nowhere in Switzerland as it'l be more expensive. If i could spend a season in Verbier that'd be good but it does cost a fair bit en Suisse. After the season i fancy a bit of a tour - Via Ferrata in the dolomites, bit of paragliding and maybe a wee deck into Slovenia as the money runs low and get a bit of mountain biking in.
Now your supposed to tell me you'll hook me up with a good cheap apartment, good riding buddies and a TDI Syncro. C'mon then? I would sleazyjet for a good van by the way......Rob

Hi everyone,
I would say one thing about the syncro (Type 2 T3 and Type 2 T4) is that if it's gearbox is on the way out then it could become very expensive (about twice the price of an engine, maybe more) to fix.
