Hello all.

As anyone with a canvas sided pop top will vouch, it's a bit on the cold side up there for 2 to 3 seasons a year. It's little use putting the heater on, as the laws of physics are disobeyed in VW's and the heat doesn't rise.

I've heard that you can get a sort of thermal wrap for the outside, covering the canvas. Does anyone have one? Does it make much difference? Where can they be bought? Does it cut the noise down too?

is it a westy style ruth ?

on our old devon i had a piece of blackout material, with velcro sewn along one side, this stuck to the carpet on the roof and then ran down the sides to the bottom, it made it nice and dark inside, kept it warmer and night cooler in the morning and did make it quieter!

See Simon at the Brickwerks, he sells `em. I`ve got one for mine, keeps you warm / cool and also acts as a mega black-out for those early mornings when the suns up. well recommended, cost about £110.

Sounds great. How do they fit? Are they one piece? Had a look on Brickwerks site and can't see a pic.

Yeah, one piece, roll up Ok as well. You fit it from one side, push the thing through the gap between the popped-up top and the front luggage rack, then walk round the other side, grab the offending bit and it just tucks up under the overhang on the pop-top roof, then the bottom edge drops into the gutter. Do this both sides, make sure it`s fitted up to the roof edge across the flat front of the canvas, then at the rear where it tapers down you put a bungy cord into the eyelets and connect the two ends across the back, holds it all tight, no flapping, nowhere for the wind to get under. `Coz it`s tucked up under the top overhang of the roof water can`t get in. Takes approx 2 mins to install, and works great. Excellent fit on the Westy as well, as they are make just for that purpose
