hi guys... yesterday i had to pull the van over while driving because i noticed steam coming from engine and she was overheating. i played with the pipes and was able to get home without any more problems.
today i was checking the engine/water etc and i removed the front grill to have a look at the rad....i had the engine running for about 10-15 mins and i noticed the rad was giving off steam... is this normal??
i had a good read of my haynes and will be doing a full check of the cooling system this weekend...just not sure if the rad normally steams or not!
its a 84 water cooled t25 btw :D

Only reasons it would steam would be either a leak or maybe it was wet from rain.

NOOOOO rad weld is evil stuff. Get it repaired or bite the bullet and buy a new one. Rad weld just gunges up your entire cooling system.

General opinion on here is NO!!!! Stuff like radweld is dangerous as it can clog the very long heating/cooling pipes, therefore doing more damage! Do a search on radweld and have a read.

There are a couple of modern sealers that will work but for the rad I would get it repaired/replaced. The proper sealers can rescue leaking water-jacket gaskets though.
