Before I attempt this job myself, is it a real pig of a job or is it very simple? Ive got a 1992 syncro and the brakes are squealing like mad and arent as good as they should be. I tried looking in the wiki but theres nothing there about doing this job. Any advice?

Pretty simple job for a competent DIYer. Try the haynes manual, they even do a specialist braking system manual iirc.

I'm useless with anything mechanical, but was talked through changing some front pads at last years Techie Weekend.

So, if I can do it - anyone can! :)

I've not done the later ones, early ones can be troublesome if the calipers are bigger than they used to be 'cost they've rusted a bit, I've had to get a metal file out to restore things to their original dimensions, but the later ones look as if they'd be less susceptible to such problems.
