Stereo wiring

Hi All
This question is actually about my T4, but could also apply to the T25, so hope that is ok!
Took out the elderly Blaupunkt and replaced it with a Lidl special head unit/MP3 player. The old one worked with ignition off/keys out. The new one will only work with keys in (A real pain in a camper!!).
I havent altered the wiring as it had prefitted ISO connectors on the loom already. The red wire to the plug is permanent + and there is a seperate brown/red wire which is the ignition feed. What I am thinking of doing is cutting the brown/red one and attaching it to the red wire giving permanent live to both terminals. Does this sound OK or are there other ways of doing it?

Lastly, does anyone know of a head unit repairer ?

Thanks!
:D

connecting both to the red wire will work fine, maybe just pop an extra inline fuse on just to be safe

if you connect the ignition wires on the vehicle to the permanant live then this is not good! make sure that when you cut the ign wire you connect the end that heads towards the plug to the perm live! and terminate the redundant end properly, ie connector strip, this way it won't short on the player or body work! e-mail me or call me if you get stuck!!!

Hi John, you said you had some wiring diagrams for an autohomes Kamper, can you send them to me if I cover the postage.

You could also connect the live wires together and remove the cut end of the ignition feed from the iso plug thereby isolating it for any nasty situations.

Thanks guys!
Dave-dont worry, that was what I meant about cutting the wiring-the ignition feed will be very well insulated and the other end at the plug will be connected to the permanent live!
Paul-I can send you copies FOC, but it wont be until after New Year-PM me your address and I will sort it.

When I said both I meant the red wire and yellow wire from the radio (these are power wire and memory wire)
