Hi All again.
I'm a needing to change my plugs - first time!
It's a 2.0L Aircooled. Anyone know what socket size I'll need? Also - will I need some form of extension to reach the back ones, which appear to be deep down behine a plate?

Pretty sure its a 14mm socket. You will need an extension but not all than long, there are plenty of things to get in the way - 6 in one should do it. From memory (which isn't very good these days), top left doesn't need an extension, top right does and so do the front ones?
I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. Please.

hi,
a long pair of tweezer type thing that fits in the hole may also be required.....coz even when you use the proper spark plug removal tool, the plug can fall out of the rubber grip in the socket.....you then have to rummage around in the tinware for the spark plug.
Guess how I know.....
Good luck!

hi m8
what you need is a sparkplug socket for 14mm thread,,, a 14mm socket will not fit.
if you're very lucky they will be loose enough to get out with fingers once you crack them, if not it's a right pain cos of the tinware.
i think i only needed an extension on 1 of the plugs.
hope it goes well,, get the plasters ready

I used to have a socket with a rubber doughnut in the top that gripped the head of the plug nicely for putting them back, I always felt as though I was going to strip it. I never did but do one a t a time so you have the angle in your head soon after they come out, stripped spark threads is not something I'd recommend on one of these! A smear of oil on the plug threads helps them back in too.
