Got a cali westie hi-top 1.6td and the chap who had it before replaced the gearbox with a four speed one!!??

Trouble is the van will only do about about 55mph flatout/before over revving.

Would like to find out what the top speed should be and how difficult it will be to source a replacement gear box

I've managed to hit a recorded 125 kph in a 1.6td westy cali hitop, 5 speed

used to cruise happy at a recorded 100kph
provided the road was flat, clear, and you had a slipstream from a
1.9 lpg poptop

3000 revs equates to 60 mph with the standard 5 speeder on a westy TD so it should do about 80mph if you wanna flog it to death :?

mine is 50mph at 3000 revs. I think it could be time for a 5 speed gearbox!

Thinking of buying the one Shukoi's got. Anyone know how much it would cost to get fitted?
