Waste Water Tank

I think this is my first techy question, so be gentle please!!

Water would not flow from the sink into the waste tank underneath the van (Westy).

So I loosened the bolts holding the tank on & the water started to flow into & over the tank.

I retightened the bolts, but the flow into the tank is slower & some is still flowing over the tank.

My thinking is that the waste pipe is too short?? I can see where it attaches to the plughole on the sink with a clip, but is the end that goes through the floor secured with anything?

Ive tried to pull it gently, but am not sure whether I need to remove the water tank to see if secured from below.

Any assistance would be appreciated

Sounds like the waste pipe is being pinched or bent by the tank.
Can you move the tank forward or back, left or right?
1/2" might free the kink in the pipe.

Is there any slack in the pipe at the sink end?
Could you push some more down?

I slakened the bolts & moved the tank back/forwards, side to side & thats when the water started flowing.

There is no slack in the pipe at all from the sink to the tank, thats why I wondered whether the pipe was in someway fitted to the top of the tank, or whether I could just pull it out & replace with a longer pipe that would drop down into the waste tank slightly.

Any help appreciated.

Our first trip out (to Vanwest) last week & arrived home courtesy of the RAC!!

Back from the garage now & it appears the linkage in the carb was seized, causing the engine to rev madly, also one of the jets was blocked so all the settings had been fiddled with to make the van run - See now that propbably means something to someone, but bugger all to me!!

Fair to say it runs really quietly now, but compaired to the Aircooled, it always did!!

Yeah read about that, pretty scarey! Vanwet was our first long run in our new van, went well except discovered that the tank was a bit sieve like, hopefully getting a new one fitted tomorrow.

I fully understand the issues you have.........blokes would do

My White Westy had major carb issues when I bought it, basically had to have a replacement one.

Apart from the scary over reving pretty good otherwise I hope?
