Some advice for a friend ... 1.6TD > 1.9TD ?

We have new neighbours who have a 1.6TD T25 camper with a blown engine on a 5 speed box. They wish to upgrade to a better, stronger, diesel engine having blown the 1.6 TurD twice . They have some, but not vast amounts of money, and they have very little mechanical knowledge. So,what would the experienced members here suggest they do ?

They have the option on a 1.9TD engine (JX?) But what would be required to swap 1.6TD to 1.9TD ? Sump, plumbing etc ?

Any help, thoughts and opinions appreciated as I know sod all about diesels ... and fully intend to keep it that way

Cheers,Ian.

If they source a complete AAZ its easy, some 1.6 bits want bolting onto the 1.9 but nothing difficult. The hardest bit is finding a sensible milage AAZ.

Thanks for that Andy, any idea which bits require swapping over ?

I'll pass on the 'good' news.

Cheers,Ian.

Put the 1.6 ex manifold and turbo onto 1.9 engine, oil feed pipe needs one making, oil return pipe needs a new one (simon baxter sells these), wants an spigot bearing fitting in crank, engine lid will need modding to clear the pump unless its a sika/doka. Oil pickup pipe will need swaping over.
