Howdie.
Newbee here Would like to know if anyone could recommend a garage that 'lowers' T25 in the Worcestershire/West Midlands area. I'm after some alloys also if anyone can help!

Why do you want to lower it ?
I can't think of any good reason to except maybe allowing ease of entry for people of limited mobility.
Harder to get under it to fix stuff
Spare wheel harder to get out from under it
Handling will still be like a van
It will never look like a sports car
If you want low, go buy a cheap 80s porsche

Joking aside, genuinley interested in why people do the lowering thing.

they handle better - have lowered both my vans, I know
they are less effected by cross winds
they are less effected by lorrys, etc passing
It actualy improves fuel economy

oh.........and they look a damn site better. VW actually made top of the range 'velles with 30mm lower springs

It does make a big difference to handling and cross winds do not catch them as bad.

Doesn't lowering make it less of a comfy ride ?
Less suspension travel = more bumps felt ?
Can you get the spare wheel out with it lowered?

my first Westy was lowered but the bump stops weren't modified so the ride was a bit creashy, 2nd one has had them done and its a much better ride. Obviously the lowerer you go the harsher the ride is. For practicalities sake, 45mm is the lowest to go for a camper

Maybe at 30mm they do, but below that think they start to look 'stooopid' and 'wrong' aesthetically - IMHO of course

If you keep them high, getting through fords and floods is easier.
You can get over the sleeping filth (sorry I mean sleeping policemen) without slowing down.
Plus you keep the ability to see ahead above the tops of the cars in front.


I really don't have a problem holding the steering wheel when a crazy coach driver overtakes, if anyone does I would suggest working out with weights. Owlets - lorries overtake you????!?!?!??!?!?!!?

Don`t go to low, especially on a camper if you have underslung gas and water tanks. Done mine 45mm (Jamex kit so it works out a bit more than that) and it`s been OK until this last week. Just got back from touring Ireland and the rough roads over there caused me some grief with the fronts rubbing on the wheel-arch lips occasionaly (I have wider alloys and tyres as well). Rears are fine as the Jamex kit doesn`t drop the rears as much for some reason. I`m now going to swap the fronts for something with less drop and try to stop the problem.

Don`t get carried away with big alloys and massive drops

never had a problem with the 45mm drop on my Westy and its got the waste water tank, but not the gas one. Still high enough to see over hedges and have a good view of the road...........

I think i will have stock steels powder coated in white with some crome beauty rings........ proper old skool

Have you bought the kit yet Max? I`m takin` off my 45mm fronts and sorting my wheel/tyre/arches interface problems. Note I have slightly larger diameter tyres that are also wider, with wheel spacers so this is causing some of my issues, BUT it`s well known that the Jamex kits drop MORE than the stated 45mm (unless they`ve ammended the situation) rears are fine, fronts drop to much. And watch out for the Westy Lean
