aaz fuel consumption

the new AAZ lump will be dropped in at the weekend to replace the 1.6td, what should i expect per gallon... the 1.6td has never done less than 30 mpg... am i gonna see an improvement???, what does yours do???

Probably not... unless it really is brand new.

but there's really no way of telling since you don't mention whether it's a 2.5 ton camper with hightop or a lambretta it's going in :wink:

would certainly pull the former along better than the 1.6TD though. Some get low 20's others say over 30, all depends on so many things. Let us know after a few thousand miles, we could do with some accurate figures for the Wiki, cheers.

good point, its a high top westy california, power steering etc...5 speed box, low geared as well 60 mph at 3800 rpm, WILL MY REVS DROP APPRECIABLY WITH THE 1.9 IN????, as for sticking it in the lambretta... i only wish the camper was as quick as me scoots!!

Your revs will be identical unless you change the box.

right ok, will it not make any difference with the 1.9 aaz having a longer stroke, i thought it may having been less revvy???no....?

no difference as per longer strokes.. rpm the same. the bore is bigger not the stroke longer( unlike like a harley davidson)stick some big fat 17" wheels with some big fat 275 4x4 tyres on to sort the gear ratio out! it looks better too.

That won't change anything much if the tyres are your usual low Aspect Ratio things, TRC has to be changed, larger wheel size with same AR tyre then TRC will change a bit... but usually peeps increase wheel size and lower tyre AR, almost cancelling out any change in TRC

Engine stroke or engine anything doesn't change revs for given speed, only gearbox/diff/Tyre TRC can do that, although longer stroke does imply more torque (at lower revs)

yes but i i did say with 275 4x4 tyres, which are never low profile. normally 70 or 75s

this shows them all to be 55 or 60 AR, and a lot are less than that

thats right, the tyre size calculator shows a speed difference of over 20%. that turns 60mph into 72mph same revs. thats with 275/60/17s on. gear ratio problem solved. didnt even have to get under the van :lol:

surely if you increase the top end speed the bottom end take off will suffer,i dont wanna get wasted by milkfloats!
