Wondered whereabouts in the engine bay other people with one have got their Flashlube valve saver bottle mounted, struggling to decide on a suitable place in the 2.1 inj. engine bay.
there's a good spot away from the heat near the E.C.U. on the left where it could possibly go, but would be tricky to get the supplied bottle holder screwed to an upright surface. any ideas?

Never used "flashlube" in seven years.....

it's supposed to lubricate the valves and valve seats when running on gas, as its a dry fuel with no lubrication. don't suppose there's a deal of anything in unleaded petrol either to lube the valves since the lead is removed. seems worth fitting, since i replaced valves, guides and seats during rebuild, anything that helps em last longer seems a good idea.

Just watch it stays lower than inlet manifold, mine is slightly lower but higer when parked on a steep up hill at it can syphon out and make re starting interesting.

u'd think there would be a non-return/one way valve somewhere to prevent that but there isn't. wonder if it's worth putting one in the line. does it start with a cloud of smoke then, when that happens?

No smoke, cranks for along time, long enough to flatten battery and then starts as normal. I don't think a valve would work as thats the direction it always flows anyway, just needs to be mounted low as possible.

Yeah I know what it is, just never used it...

Not on a waterboxer but i have seen the effects of not using it, that was enough for me to add it.

I've cobbled together a shut-off valve using a 12v solenoid off an old gas vaporiser, thinking of fitting it near the sight-glass on the fill-up bottle.
that should hopefully stop any of the stuff from building up in the pipe when the engine has stopped and make mounting the bottle low enough less of a problem

Dunno.. just never used it.. never looked into it...
