Coolant Expansion Tanks

Dose anyone know if there is any difference in quality between vw & pattern tanks from JK etc. The tank I got from them has split after six months. They sent me a replacement but that leaks around the level sensor as the fit is poor around the o-ring on the level sensor.

judging from what you say.there is a world of difference between the two.given the choice i always go for vw parts.

VW all the way, I've de-threaded more cheap tanks / caps than I'd like to mention

And you will find they are near enough the same price as a JK item, even cheaper if you take the cost of postage off. Glad I got the VAG one.

Just phoned my local vw dealer in chester. Told me the price and then told none in stock and none at the factory. I have a turbo feed pipe on back order for a year now, from them. looks like I will have to source apattern one. Vw are not very helpfull are they.

i was told when i had the the same problem that the gsf ones are much better than those from jk and splitting was common on the jk ones.
thibk i paid about £28 from gsf for a tank on our 1987 1.9dg
